I would suggest interning at a small local CPA firm & then work your way up. Take advantage of this time to study as much as you can for the CPA exam, since if your working at public, then studying for the CPA exam can be very overwhelming.

Honestly, I think if you started to research several local firms, I believe you have a chance at some entry-level positions where you're at. I'm in CA so it was SO competitive.

But show that you're currently taking the exam and some firms will definitely be interested.

Challenge to government. Accounting firms have already been oversaturated.

Even if you get in a firm, you might leave the firm in 2 or 3 years. Do you realise where Big 4 or nationwide firms' seniors and managers go to? Most of them are joined to private companies eventually. Work Politics!! at the firms are miserable and nasty enough to step up on each other. These days, CPAs are not recognized as professional licensor as doctor or lawyer.

However, along with CPA license you promote you career much better in public sector. Legal authority empowers you to do something for public interests. Plus, perfect job security, early retirement and pension.

Just because you've graduated doesn't mean you should stop using your schools career development resources. Make sure you attend all of their events. I honestly think that is your best bet.
