    Hi guys,

I’m looking into a financial reporting internship that is located just over the border in New Jersey from me. I see one of the higher ups is a CPA licensed in the state of new jersey. I looked it up and I’m a little confused by this statement made for New York state licensing requirements

“…under the supervision of a licensed CPA in a U.S. jurisdiction or a public accountant in New York State.”

Does this mean yes, a NJ CPA can sign off towards my one year work experience for NY licensing? Because it should just say “under the supervisions of a Licensed CPA in the United States”, etc.if that was the case.

    Thank you!

You can use the search function on the website to find other forum post related to yours. As a NYS CPA, from experience, the CPA signing off on your experience MUST be licensed in NYS. I know for sure there is one thread on this forum which is about the same topic and many candidates list their ordeals in having non-nys CPAs sign-off on experience.

https://www.another71.com/cpa-exam-forum/topic/who-can-approve-nys-work-experience/ -Mixed responses in this thread, however one post list an email address you may want to email to get confirmation. While you may look to other Candidates/CPAs on here for advice/information when dealing with licensure, etc. type business the best source of information is your State Board.
