Hey guys, just looking for some advice or previous experiences anyone could share. I start my new job on January 6th. I originally had my FAR exam scheduled on the 11th as its a Saturday and I would not have to miss work. The thing is I am way behind on studying because FAR is a struggle for me. I was thinking of moving my exam date to the 22nd or 23rd, but by then I will have been assigned to a client and am afraid of what my team will say seeing as I just started. I have a week of training in Chicago then another week of training in Texas. So technically I wont start working with my team until the 20th then my exam will be in the middle of that week. Do you think it is a huge deal if I somehow try to take the day off or request not to be assigned a client until then? There is no way I can take FAR on the 11th as it will just be a fail and a huge waste of money, which I am not too inclined to waste. Just worried I will get in trouble or cause a hassle on my first few days of work.

    AUD - 69, 77
    REG - 74, 81
    FAR - 75!
    BEC - 71, 82

    IL candidate!

    Finally done (5/24/16)!! Yahooooooo!

Unless you are dealing with someone who is completely unreasonable and a total jerk then it shouldn't be an issue….especially if you take it in the morning and offer to come in after the exam.

    REG: 75 DONE 🙂
    AUD: 61, 71, 68, 92 DONE 🙂
    BEC: 76 DONE 🙂
    FAR: 72, 74, 79 DONE 🙂
    Licensed Michigan CPA 🙂

taking the exam shows initiative toward the job, cancelling is either exam jitters or boss jitters. I would just ask for the time to take the exam. The answer will tell you whether you want to continue to work there……What firm doesn't want you to become a CPA as quickly as possible?

P.S leave the co-workers out of it….why?,,,,They will start asking did you pass, then you'll have to deal with asking for time to take off for a retake…..then you'll start comparing yourself to those that passed on the first try and those that did not.

    It begins with a 75
