Hi all,

I have a quick question regarding incentive programs for bringing in new clients. I would like to know how your firms deal with this as I beleive our policies are antiquated and would like to see how other smaller firms (5-15 CPAs) handle this.

We receive 10% of first years billings for new clients, and 10% of the increase in prior years billings going forward. So, if we have a new client that we are able to bill $1,000 we receive $100 that first year. If in the next year we bill $1,100 we receive $10 from that billing ((1100-1000)*.1).

Hi – At my firm (25 total people, 14 CPAs) we get 25% of first year billings and 10% of second year billings. I think our policy is pretty fair. I would hope your firm would recognize the importance in motivating you to market yourself and the firm to new clients.
