I am current living in Houston Texas and taking accounting classes to be eligible to sit for CPA. I overheard from someone in my accounting class that she will apply for CPA through Delaware since requirements are light. I am thinking about doing something similar. I found many states with very low requirements like Delaware. I can qualify for all of them. I have an economics degree, but i have been working in operational accounting in oil&gas. Only reason I want to take the exam is that I will qualify for more positions and will make it easier to get jobs. I do not care about the certificate itself. I just want to show on my resume that i passed all four exams. Based on this, does it make sense to apply outside of Texas? Window of opportunity is closing down though. States are increasing their requirements substantially. I need to act fast before it is too late.

Also, If I pass all the CPA exams but I don’t take any cpe classes, don’t pay the annual dues or don’t work under a CPA, what happens? Again, i need the exam only to put on my resume.
