Need a little inspiration to keep at it? Hope this helps…

I started my CPA journey in October of 2010, and so many times considered giving up as I kept trying and failing. Finally, at the end of February this year I passed the last section and was licensed at the end of March. I cannot believe how quickly my life has changed in just a few weeks. I’ve found a new job with an enormous jump in pay (42%!) and gone from being a staff accountant to an executive level position with so many fantastic benefits. I wish I would have known last year what all my hard work would earn me because it would have made all those late nights and missed events easier to swallow.

I nearly decided to postpone that last exam because I didn’t feel prepared. If I had skipped that test I would not have gotten my license when I did. The day I was licensed is the same day this job became available and they were only considering CPAs for the position. Don’t give up- your next test could be the one that changes everything!

    AlexaM,

Really inspiring, first of all congratulations for passing all four parts and getting an excellent job. I also sometimes feel that I should have done it like five years ago as soon as I graduated but you can not change the past; now after graduating 5 years ago, I am still a staff accountant, and doing CPA. Hopefully, it will be rewarded…all the hard works, late night and missing event like you said..

Thanks, everyone! I'm terrified because it's a huge step up but I think it will be great. I really didn't think I would see changes in my life this quickly and I spent most of January/February hating studying, depressed about it all. Definitely wish I'd known back then how much all that torture would be worth it!

Congrats AlexaM! That is really awesome and inspiring. I still need some additional hours to get the license when I eventually finish the exam. Not looking forward to the continued months of studying but thanks for sharing your experience.

All the very best in your new position. Just take one day at a time.
