After passing the CPA this passing summer, I thought I had absolutely no hope in finding an internship or job in accounting. Long story short, I wasn’t even being offered interviews. I must say it is understandable at some point due to having no experience. I was willingly to take any accounting work. Kind of off topic but, I saw this one ad where a small business was looking for an intern and the requirement to get the intern position is to have interned already in the past. It probably makes sense to some people, but to others, no.

One day I received an email for an interview for this one accounting contracting agency. I researched who they were and what they did. I also read some reviews and topics abut this agency. There was a lot of people that gave negative reviews. I was beginning to get second thoughts. But I kept telling myself, “Just go in and see what happens.” After the interview, I got a call from my interviewer that a small CPA firm wanted to talk to me. After talking to the person of the small CPA firm, he wanted to offer me an internship. I froze and had a big smile on my face. I thought in my head, “I am truly thankful for what was offered to me..”

To the people that are in the same boat as I am, please don’t give up. You don’t have to be discouraged by what other people say to not do things. You will never know until you try it yourself first hand. Take other peoples advice into consideration, but don’t fully go by what they say because everyone has their own opinion.
