What’s the demand on the market for someone with 2 years of public experience (lcoal firm) and licensed? In both public and private?

After 2 years in public, I was bombarded with recruiter phone calls (thanks to LinkedIn). I'd say between 2-5 years is attractive to employers because you're still new (cheap) to the game but you've got some experience. I had no problem getting a job after 4 years in public, and I'm not licensed yet.

There will be plenty of opportunities for you. The one piece of advice I can give you is to forge your own path. Don't feel like you have to take the traditional path of 2-5 in public, then private, then assistant controller, controller, etc. Do what you want to do.

Went from 2.5 years in public to assistant controller. Opportunities will heavily depend on if you were in tax vs audit. Though you can push through the barriers of entry if you're determined.
