Hi Everyone,
I have a question that I could really use some assistance with.
I have a BA (3.7GPA) and MA (3.5GPA) from a state university in a totally different field than Accounting. I work full time. I also just finished fulfilling the prereq’s for my MAcc program this semester on a full time basis as well. I’m doing these at the graduate level because I wanted a greater challenge and I thought it would provide me such. I have already been accepted to a top MAcc program with a partial scholarship and I start in the fall. It is a 9 month program and I will graduate in May 2016.
Here are my grades for the prereq’s:
Federal Income Tax: B
Managerial: B
Auditing: A-
Intermediate I: B
Intermediate II: C
Financial Management: A-
That Intermediate II grade is killing me. I am not compromising my admission nor my scholarship with that grade, though. I have met the “minimum” requirement. I completed it with two other graduate classes while working full time. Also, I had a professor who had some issues conveying ideas in English. He was a first year professor from China. It was kind of brutal because I’m not great at teaching myself topics like those in Intermediate II.
So, I am thinking about retaking it at another school in Summer Session 2 because I do not feel I absorbed enough.
My question is: Are these prereq grades going to kill my chances at a good job? Again, I’m going to a top program, I have 4 years of work experience (including working full time and doing prereq’s full time), an MA and a good GPA in my undergrad. Are these mitigating factors that I could leverage? I should add that my current job is highly interactive (relationship manager in legal industry) and I have been told I have very strong soft skills. I know this matters in an interview, but I need to ensure I get an interview.
I just need some help making some sense of my options so I would appreciate all feedback.
Thanks in advance!
