Bring a notepad / portfolio with your resume. Order the most expensive item on the menu.

Don't do what the guy above just said. It's a lunch interview, most likely it will be casual but still an interview. He probably wants to know what kind of person you are and if you are the right fit for the firm. Speak about your accomplishments and hobbies. Do not bring up religion, politics or your personal problems. If you can manage this then you are golden.

One thing that always sticks in my mind is about Henry Ford. He liked to conduct interviews over breakfast (I think specifically) and he would not hire anyone who salted their food before trying it. If I remember correctly it demonstrated overuse of resources and a lack of confidence in others, or something to that effect. I am sure that the partner may not be as neurotic, but I would just suggest that you use the most proper of manners. I would eat something light, there is nothing worse than trying to eat and talk. Make sure you do not talk with your mouth full. Be nice to the waitstaff. keep your elbows off the table and don't slouch. Basically treat it like a date, lol.

I agree with MaLoTu, my wife had one and she talked about salting the food before trying it. I'd get something lite just in case.

I've had a lunch interview. It's less about eating lunch and more about getting to know you- how you'll fit in the firm, how you treat others, and how you interact with others. It is usually pretty casual. Best of luck!

DO NOT order the most expensive thing and don't order the cheapest thing. For the love of God, chew with your mouth closed too. Also, don't order anything that'll make your breath smell. Talk about the company, future goals of the firm, CPA exam experiences, etc. Just don't let it get awkward!

Don't order anything that might be messy. You don't want to spill on yourself.

Don't order any soup or noodles or anything else that you have to slurp up or look like an idiot eating! Order something you eat with a fork and a knife!

When I was at the Big 4 we would do lunch interviews all the time. Some people would let loose and get comfortable, however, everything the person said we took note of. One lady told me that she didn't even apply for the job and was contacted by HR. And she really didn't know if she wanted the job because she had a boyfriend who had no desire to move. She never got a second interview. Just remember that everything you do and say will be factored into the hiring process so nomatter how relaxed everyone seems be at your best behavior. I always ordered a salad. You don't want something messy either or something you have to eat with your hands.

    Good Luck!
