I’ve been with the firm I work at now for about 3 years. It’s a smaller firm, with only two locations and about 60 employees total. I was offered a position while I was an intern and still in school, so the whole job hunting process is still pretty foreign to me. Long story short, while I really enjoy the firm I work at, over the past year I’ve had several really close family members move to the Southern California region. While this has been a blessing in disguise in regards to studying for the exam, I’m beginning to think that come next spring, once this next busy season is over and I’m officially a CPA, I’ll want to make the move out there myself. My question, though, is how early should I start looking and applying for available positions in that area if May/June are my target move months? As of now, I’m thinking I’d likely be looking for something with a Big 4 firm, or at least something with a larger, national firm.
