Hi All,

What are some of your experiences with craziest stretches of long hours, either at Public or Private, and what city?

For me it was as a 2nd year, in NYC at a Big 4 on an IPO for a media & entertainment client. During busy season we had the year end audit, coupled with all of the work surrounding the filing of the company’s IPO. We worked from 9am to midnight Monday through Thursday, 9am to 7pm on Fridays, 9am to 5pm on Saturdays. We did this for 3 months straight. When busy season let up, 10pm on weeknights and no weekends. This lasted almost the whole year.

I feel like I-Bankers and Lawyers can do this no problem, but I was really feeling it toward the end there.

I would imagine there are some worse and some not so bad. I’d love to hear your stories.

Investment Bankers and lawyers can handle it no problem because they get paid like professionals, not like janitors haha!

actually, doing accounting does feel like janitorial work. you are constantly cleaning up mess that no one else wants to look at.
