    Hi guys,

I am eligible to sit for the CPA exam, and I graduated with a Master’s in Accounting, but I have only a little bit of accounting experience (long story). And so I am having trouble finding a job.

My question is this: if I pass the CPA exam do you guys think it will open a lot of doors for me given the little experience I have?

I have some experience in private industry accounting (around a year of experience), but do you think I can find a job in public accounting or internal audit? I am actually very interested in getting a job in internal audit.

We had a firm come do a presentation at Beta Alpha Psi and they said that 55% of new hires had passed the entire exam and 83% had passed at least on portion before starting work. So I think that passing the CPA exam will definitely help and I have never heard anyone complain that passing the CPA exam hurt their career. On a personal note I have almost no experience in accounting but I'm still doing really well in the job hunt, I think it's probably because I have passed the CPA exam.

I have read in other posts on this site that even though some people have a master's degree and pass the CPA exam they still can't find a job.

so does it actually depend on what city you are looking for jobs in?

like where is everybody looking for jobs when they say that they pass the CPA exam but can't find a job?

In my experience, work experience counts but not that much. What's really important is making meaningful connections through networking opportunities. This will be the hardest part of the process. If you do this well, it will introduce you to the interviews. The interview is like the CPA Exam, just that it's much easier. Study and lots of practice will prepare you very well for the interview.

Your Master degree will qualify you for the position, taking/passing part(s) of the CPA exam will make you even more attractive. Believe it or not, you are in the ideal position to study and pass the exam, it will not do you wrong.

Passing the exam is not impossible task. GIVING UP is the only way YOU can make it impossible!
