Is it okay if i put under my LinkedIn professional headline – CPA candidate

Also when I started updating my profile, I started to add in 2 community college bc I needed the units to get to 150, but when I did that under my profile it took out my undergrad school. Do you think its better to remove the community college classes?

Assuming you are unemployed, you are fine putting CPA Candidate.

I would leave off your community college courses. They dont add any value.

Alright thanks. Only reason I put the community college courses in there is because I have a gap since I graduated and I figure putting in some education makes it look better.

Not sure who it was but somebody here said they got a letter from their state board (TX) because they used CPA candidate in their profile, and they were told they couldn't use CPA in any context until they were licensed. Not sure it really happened but just thought I'd throw it out there.

Intetesting thread mIa, I hadn't seen that one.

If you are in Texas, I suggest you remove it.

Anywhere else, I suggest you keep it in. I like the thought of adding “Exam” between CPA and Candidate.

hmm thanks for bringing up the post. The issue seem to pertain to Texas. But it seems okay in California if you are a member of CalCPA. Need to do a bit more research just to be sure.

Update: Did a quick search on LinkedIn and there seems to be a handful of people who put CPA candidate in their headline

It does seem a lot of people use it (I did too) and I've only heard of one person getting grief for it. I still don't see it as misleading, but I would check with my state board if I wasnt licensed after reading that discussion.
