Or have some sort of actual weekly limit in terms of hours. Not only in accounting/finance, but in so many fields employers simply hire one individual for two jobs. Does anyone else feel this way? It’s pathetic when I work until 1 am some nights for no overtime. I feel like I’m being used.

jeff….worked as an electrician in HS (laying cement is by far the worst construction job…..i would last about 2 days doing that) and in the Cafe through college……this is way better even at the 60th hr of the week

Agreed, Jeff. It is a lot easier to compare yourself to someone in a “better” position than yourself and see yourself as somehow “wronged” than it is to compare yourself to someone in a less fortunate position.

With that said, staff-level CPAs shouldn't have to work too many 90-hour workweeks in a busy season for virtually no pay. There are always people worse off, but that doesn't mean it's not exploitative. There is a big difference between a 60 and 90 hour workweek.

Jeff's right – I helped my husband rip up the tile floor and sub-floor (including the hundreds of staples attached to it) in our foyer the other day – it only took us a couple hours and I thought I was going to die. He works on houses all day long! Not sure how he does it!
