I am a senior 1 at a big 4 firm and was wondering when would the best time for me to leave the firm is. It is not that I dislike my job, I am more just curious when leaving would be the most advantageous. I am not sure where to go or anything, but would like to know where I could go that would get me the most money and would be the most interesting.

The more years you have in public accounting, the more desirable you will be to other companies. I was at a small public accounting firm for two years, left as a staff associate, and got a job as a project manager. I had a friend who left after only 1 year of public accounting and she got a job as an accounting manager. Another friend left after 4 years and got a job as a controller. It really all depends, I have plenty of other friends who left public accounting after 2-3 years and still haven't found another good job.
