Hi All, first time poster!
I currently work for the Auditor Department for a County in California. I don’t really have any bad thing to say about where I work. Great benefits, a pension, lots of vacation time, 45 hour work week, and an environment where I can progress my career.
I recently got contacted via LinkedIn by a recruiter at a local company that makes speakers to be hired as a Senior Accountant. They are a direct competitor of BOSE. The environment is startup and sounds like a lot of fun, which I can’t say that about my current job.
I make a decent salary for only having 3 years of experience ( I make about 69K) and the new position would pay me 75K + Stock. However, I would be loosing a pension since I don’t vest for another 2 years.
Would it be dumb to go to private where I can be fired at any time and loose on a pension? I don’t hate my current job.
I don’t have any private or public accounting experience other than internships. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
