There was a great thread on this and I can not find it!!!

I need suggestions for a new job that I will be starting in about 3 weeks!!!! It is a public accounting firm where I will mostly be working with taxes and I will be meeting clients so business casual to business formal is the typical dress…. I need suggestions for places to shop, what to wear…..on a budget!! Yikes!

    Restarting my journey!

I think this is the thread you were looking for: https://www.another71.com/cpa-exam-forum/topic/women-of-the-forum-help-me-out If not, it's another on this topic! 🙂

Personally, I live in a more casual region, so get my clothes from JC Penney (sales/clearance), Burke's Outlet, and even a couple items from Walmart. But…I know that most accounting offices aren't quite Walmart-level! So I probably won't be as much help. (My boss when I worked in public accounting said no shorts and no PJs – that literally was the dress code. Ha!)

EDIT: Little# beat me to it!

I would recommend getting a few suits from Ann Taylor Loft (or Banana Republic)– def one black and def one lighter color (gray, tan). When you don't need to be business formal, you can wear the pants on their own with just a shirt/sweater or you can use the blazer over a dress or skirt. And you can check out cheaper stores to get some shirts— I think when you have a nice pair of pants or a nice jacket, they will last you a long time and help you to look more put together, even if you have a ten dollar shirt from Marshalls on underneath it..

    F- 7/13- 84
    R- 10/13- 79
    A- 11/13- 99
    B- 1/14- 86

    Licensed in PA- 3/20/2014

This exam ALMOST defeated me back in 2006-2008, but I came back and WON!

I have a few suits from Ann Taylor, Macy, H&M, Banana Republic. The good things about us girls is that we have a good option to mix and match. I work in tax now and generally wear business casual and when I meet with clients sometimes a good jacket with a nice blouse or something underneath with pants. I keep my suits neutral (gray, black, navy blue) hehe I get mix and match from like TJ Max and JC Penny too hehe
