    I work in Industry at a growing Midwest company with 1.3 billion or so in revenue. I make 47k as a manager in A/P after helping implement the PM module during our conversion to SAP, but feel I am not getting the chance to learn enough in this role to become more valuable. I expect to have my CPA license in the next month and am wondering if I should make the jump to public for a few years to gain knowledge and increase earning potential. Would this still make sense to do at 29?

    Lou, was that from campus recruiting? Back when I was at my school (2010), I was able to obtain about 6 interview, but unfortunately non of them materialized into a positions. I think since graduating, I've gotten maybe 3/4 interviews in public accounting.

    How good were your grades? I had a 3.3 and the big 4 basically just brushed me off. I think it's relatively easy if your GPA is a 3.8+, but anything less, good luck.

    B=84 This exam was such a b**** that I thought I failed-don't know how these things work
    A=76 Slacker I am, I'll happily take it
    R=81 I LOVE taxes
    F=80 I don't wanna get banned for an expletive I'm thinking with "yea" proceeding it

    Thank you all very much for the input here. Will take a cue from @rtalfson and go ahead and put resume's in.

    I have a 3.8 – Only one was from “campus recruiting” a few were from resume blasts that my school does, and a few were on my own via application process…

    3.8+ 150 credits = prime candidate

    Anything less and you're at a disadvantage.

    I'm actually in a similar situation. Not really feeling challenged in industry to this point.

    My issue is that I really killed my undergrad GPA with immaturity during my freshman year. I dropped it all the way to a 1.8, and managed to work it to a 3.0 when I graduated with my Bachelor's. My Master's GPA is a 3.75, but have not finished it due to taking an out of town position and focusing on getting my CPA License.

    My fiance works for PwC, and I am very interested in getting in after spending some time in forensic accounting as well as now being in public for about 6 months. My only issue is I'm not sure how I would be received due to my poor performance in undergrad. This has, however, given me a new sense of maturity having to dig out of that hole. My only hope is that one of the Big 4 will give me an opportunity.

    FAR - (8/20) 70, (10/28) 72, (2/22) 76
    REG - (6/8) 69...
    BEC - (11/18) 77
    AUD - (4/14) 72...
