Hi everyone,

I recently got an offer from a Fortune 500 company for about $3,000 less than what I am currently making now at a significantly less recognizable privately held company.

Is it better to take the lower pay to work for a recognizable company?

New salary – $58,500
Current salary – $62,000 plus 10% bonus

Advancement opportunities at each company? Commute distance? Many, many variables.

The commute is the same and the advancement opportunities are probably better there. At my current company, people are only promoted if there is a vacancy.

Salary is only part of compensation, is the insurance better and cheaper, 401k match, vacation time (usually the easiest item to negotiate up), HSA,FSA, tuition reimbursement, hours, holidays, etc
