I just found a fantastic job that look good at craigslist.org but I am a bit skeptical about the website ie in terms of posting my resume with my details .How reliable is the craigslist.org, any experiences to share with members on this forum.

I got my current (accounting manager) job through craigslist it's a small manufacturer and my boss is a tightwad, which is reflected in my salary :). That said I didn't stand a good chance landing a management position elsewhere because my experience was staff accountant. I took it planning to stay 3 years then move on to a controller position. I've been there 1.5 years so far and already interviewing elsewhere.

I've done most of my current job hunting on Craigslist. I'd say 80% of my 10-15 ish interviews were from Craigslist postings. I've had a couple interviews at some shady places from there as well but a lot good ones as well. It's just another option. I've seen job postings on Craigslist that were also posted to Monster, Indeed, etc.

    BEC-51,71,70,77
    AUD-50,62,68 (retake july)
    REG-55
    FAR-15(didnt study)

I got a job off of Craigslist and it was legit. Craigslist is huge in Austin so there are tons of jobs listed. They require companies to pay to post jobs so it removed a lot of the work from home scams.

If you are worried, I would do as the poster above said and remove your address.

I got my current job from a listing on Craigslist. And I know that we still post on craigslist. I'm skeptical when they don't say the name of the company or there are typos in the ad. I remember applying to some without a company name and they were recruiters…

    FAR - 7/13 - 72, 11/13- 74, 2/14- 82!!! Best score ever (for me)!!!
BEC - 1/14 - 75!!! Perfect score! First Pass! YAY!!!
    AUD - 8/14 - 80!!!
    REG - 5/14 - 72, 10/14 - 66, 1/15 - 78 - DONE FOREVER!!!
I did 5 of the UNA and CPAExcel classes to earn units.

Its fun to see the different perceptions of CL, I'm in the Bay Area and the use of CL is pretty big. Also, CL is not free, its actually one of the few places where they earn revenue, as they do charge to post job ads. One of my clients who is public posts positions on CL, and while they include it on their website and such, posting to a listing will reach way more people.

That said, I wouldn't communicate any confidential personal information right off the bat, maybe once they write to you from their @ReputableCompany.com email address and you can verify the job listing on the company website.

In my area craigslist charges $25 per ad, vs $395 that Monster charges. Quite a divide. Sites that charge more kind of weed out the companies that are “just looking.”

A lot of craiglist ads are for recruiters and the jobs are generic posting. The job I'm at now was through craigslist. I responded directly to the ad. Then when the email came back, I googled the email address to find the person. So far it has been working out.

    BEC - 77 - Passed (Becker)
    FAR - 79 - Passed (Becker)
    AUD - 73, 82 - Passed (Becker)
    REG - 67, 89 - PASSED (Becker + Ninja + Wiley Test Bank)

Another trick I use is to google the job title and other identifying parts of the Craiglist ad to see if I can find the company to find out more information from their website. This also works for those annoying paid job search websites that only give you half of the job ad. Most of the time, this works because HR people post the same ad everywhere.
