LSNYCMemberI wouldn't post your resume on craiglist. However my understanding is in the post there should be contact info, and you can send your resume there. I have used the site and knew a few friends who have gotten jobs from there. Is it the best no, but applying to a job posted there is fine and I don't think there is anything wrong with it.
Good luck!

This is my 2nd attempt at the exam, I had two parts passed (failed many) and I stupidly quit, big mistake. Now I'm back and with a vengeance!

jsimusParticipant@LSNYC Thanks what I meant was replying to the job ad with my resume and not posting the it at the site .I will give it a shot just that the company is not stated and the reply to the job ad is to a craiglist number.

AnonymousInactiveYou can delete your address line in your resume, but just put a city and state there when you submit through craigslist.
If you don't want to get spam calls, you can sign up google voice to shell your real phone number because you are able to block those robocall from Google Voice.
If you have facebook, you may want to deactivate it now or go to the privacy setting to set everything private because people still able to get your personal info via those social networks according to your resume name and city.

AnonymousInactiveI've gotten a few interviews from craigslist, none of them legitimate. I think when a company pays to post an ad (i.e. Monster), they tend to take the hiring process a bit more seriously.

jkpoker1MemberI think craigslist is ok but you have to realize a few job ares scams and you want to only apply for jobs you actually qualify for. I always make sure to only apply for jobs that require 1-2 years of experience because a lot of accounting jobs want 3-5 years of experience so applying is just wasting your time and the person reading your email.
Also I've gotten calls from recruiters and they really annoy me. One left a message for me and I called her around 5 times and never could get her on the phone. I ended up leaving her a voice mail and she never called me back. I imagine recruiters are on the phone/at meetings a majority of the day.

tough_kittyMemberI saw one of the bigger local CPA firm post an ad on craigslist. Thought it was weird. But yes, I'm always skeptical about that website, even when I browse for things for sale.

JYMemberCraigslist is okay. I might have gotten my first accounting job from a posting on craigslist. Do keep in mind that the quality of the jobs are usually not that great on Craigslist. Most respectable companies post on their own website or use LinkedIn these days.

mla1169ParticipantI got my current (accounting manager) job through craigslist it's a small manufacturer and my boss is a tightwad, which is reflected in my salary :). That said I didn't stand a good chance landing a management position elsewhere because my experience was staff accountant. I took it planning to stay 3 years then move on to a controller position. I've been there 1.5 years so far and already interviewing elsewhere.
