So I have a BS in Accounting and I tried to get some experience before going for a masters degree. I called all of the accounting temp agencies like Accounting Principals and they tell me straight up “If you don’t have experience, there are no jobs”. They don’t care at all about my degree. Is there any way to get entry level experience before I pass the CPA? I don’t want to have a blank resume but don’t know what else to apply to.

Usually larger employers are using temp agencies.
I'd suggest putting a resume together and targeting smaller accounting firms that might be looking for tax season help to get your foot in the door.

^^^ Agree. Some of this may also depend on where you are.

I had some difficulty finding a job to get my CPA experience, but I was older, didn't have a degree in accounting and have some extra pounds (it matters). Eventually I found a place. Keep pounding the pavement (and once you have the letters, the doors open).

I agree with @ReckedRacing. I worked in the legal field for about 8 years before getting my MBA and making the switch to accounting. I couldn't get anyone to give me an interview, and the temp agencies were zero help. I finally got an interview and offer from an extremely small firm (I was the first full-time employee, besides the founding partners). The firm has grown, and I'm closing my 4th year here. It's worked out very well for me.

I just passed the exams and I think after tax season I might look at moving on for pay purposes if nothing else, but I'm confident that with my experience and letters I won't have too much trouble finding something new.
