My NY CPA license was finally approved and I am now a licensed NY CPA! My application was sent to the board on May 1, and I appeared on the license CPA list on Sept 13, about 4.5 months later. During that time I was laid off from the CPA firm that I got my 1 year experience with, got a new job back in the private industry, and discovered that I am pregnant again. It was totally worth the studying for the CPA exam (2.5 years and a child) and working in public accounting for 15 months. Even the lay off was worth it. I learned a lot about public accounting and I know for sure that I prefer private accounting. My bosses also ask me for things that they used to ask the external CPA for, thus lowering the professional fees expense.

FAR 4/2013 755 years in private accounting, < 1 year in public accounting. Runner, mommy, dog and cat lover. SO glad I took the exam before I went to public accounting.
