It has been 1 year since I was licensed.

I should have been promoted 5 months ago. I was not and it was for various reasons. Here are quotes from the interview

    1. – “we don't promote till after 2 years with the firm” – I was at 1.8 years and 2.5 years with a previous firm.

    2. – “we don't have the room” – They really don't.

    3. – “You have a lot of potential” – yeah I do, so give me a reason to stay

    4. – “You have great goals” – yes and I achieve them

    5. – “So and so gives you high praise” – Yeah, because I am good at what I do

    6. – “So and so was upset that you challenged her authority” – She wanted me to test items below materiality.

    7. – “Keep doing what you are doing and we can have a different conversation next year” – So keep doing what I am doing… as in don't change, so I am ready to be promoted?

So long story short, 5 months later, I got a great offer from someone else, and the main reason was this… I had my license.

So yes, it makes a huge difference. As in, I am getting a huge raise. Ha ha.

I have been a licensed tax accountant for over 12 years. I have been in public accounting for over 16 years. You cannot get to the higher class of clients without the CPA, I have been an EA like I said for over 12 years, and until I explain what an EA is most clients don't know. I have had them tell my partner to save me for someone else they only want to work with a CPA. So now I have passed all the exams and in 3 weeks I can apply for licensure.

The next time the high profile calls they can say would you like to talk to CPA 1 or CPA 2.
