I have an opportunity to go work for a firm that has a lot of IPO work down the road. Would this add value to my career? I feel like the market is really pushing the IPO demand right now but that kind of demand is not sustainable and I am just curious if that’s something that adds value to my resume or is it just a trend that will fade out in the future?

It depends, the firms i work with that do IPOs, their plan is be bought out in 3-5 years. So I would look into the firms long term plan, if they get bought out, you might lose your job but you will likely do well of the IPOs (lots of financial gain when a firm goes public). Plus if it is successful it will look great on your resume. It is higher risk but you may get a high reward.

Been working for a Pharma company that wants to IPO in the near future. I already got laid off once from the company because at the time the drug failed. They asked me back a year later and my options price is crazy low. If we IPO I'll make a lot of money and gain experience since the accounting department is only 3 people, and the whole company is 45 people.

Like stated above: High Risk HIGH REWARD

I think I wasn't as clear. I meant the public accounting firm that is helping the company go IPO. Basically, the company that wants IPO must have certain requirements filed with SEC before they can offer any securities. I think one of it may be having 3 years of audit done and quarterlies reviewed. But there are other things that this firm that offered me a position (national firm) that does for their clients. I was wondering if those other things that they provide to their clients as part of IPO engagement add any value to me.

I would love to be part of the company that goes IPO in the future. Right now, to get there, I am guessing that I need to pay my dues somehow someway somewhere. I just want to know if this is the right situation.

Thanks again for the kind words and advice.
