    Hi all.

I just had an office interview with one of the Big 4 yesterday.

I sent thank you letters to my interviewers, but I have not received any emails back. I am so frustrated..

Also Ive heard that people usually get offers really quickly.

Is this a really bad sign??

Nope, no job offers. When I interviewed with my current supervisor for the first time, he gave me his business card at the end of the interview, before I had a chance to ask for it, and asked me to call him. I wanted to wait at least a week but he called me sooner than that and offered me the job!

CPAattheBeach: haha. That's fine with me. I'm in California so it's nice here as well. I'd love to visit Hawaii one day but I don't imagine living so far away from everything and being surrounded by water. I think I'd feel claustrophobic on an island.

For one of my interviews, the interviewer said she was impressed by my resume and the research that I had done and the other interviewer told me that things will go well… So I thought it went well…

I am so frustrated now because i've heard that people usually get the offers on the same day…

That sounds promising. I know the waiting is a pain! Hope you get it!

Hopefully office interviews will be faster for you offer letter wise, on-campus the wait can be longer as there are generally several campus visits going on at the same time and you have to wait until all are finished and pick from the entire pool of candidates from all campuses which ones you want to invite to office visits…but generally, if the office visits are done on one day (depending on the size of the office, if you are in a bigger market like NYC or something they may not be and your wait may be longer) for each practice line than all of the candidates should be interviewed on one day, a meeting will be held afterwards and decisions should be made, back in the day you could get your offer as soon as that day…but they have gone away from that…but generally you should know within a week-10 days I would think. But yes, generally speaking, people have gone away from answering the “thank you” emails during this process until everyone knows about their offers, and it is also busy season right now so that definitely slows everyone down. Hope that helps and hope you hear back soon! Good luck!

I had five offers from this past recruiting season and I sent thank you emails to all of my interviews. I did get offers from the firms that did not respond to my emails. There is hope. Also my offers ranged from one week after interview to three months after interview. It just depends on the firm.

    Don't lose hope!

My offers from 2 of the big 4 companies I had interviews with came the next business day after my office visit. However, a friend of mine who interviewed with the same company got her offer about 2 weeks later. So it all depends on the situation.

I think if you are one of their top choices, they'll go ahead and make the offer to you either on the same day or the following day. However, if you don't hear back immediately, it could mean that you are on their backup list and will be extended an offer if one of their top choices declines the offer and there are vacant spots left. Again, I'm just speculating so no concrete evidence to back this up. But good luck and hope you get the job!

I never got replies from the two e-mails I sent out, and my offer came between 3-4 weeks later. You did the right thing by sending thank you e-mails. Theres nothing much else that you could have done better than to just show attentiveness and interest. Don't sweat it. Big 4 is'nt all its cracked up to be. Mid-sized firms and even local firms are great. Just make sure they are reputable. But good luck, and don't go crazy yet!! Being pulled in for an interview shows that there was something that they liked. I remember hearing that for the Northeast US 72,000 applications came in for internships with my firm. of that a fraction get pulled in for interviews. by the time you sit down for an interview they are already investing money into you as an employee, so your chances are fairly high once you come in for the interview.

Don't let them define you. You went to school and busted your behind to get to where you are, with or without the Big 4. They can help you career, but in the end your career is what you make of it. Look at it like ivy league colleges. You think every successful person in the US went to an ivy league school, of course not. I went to a school that wasnt even on the map TBH, but i was accepted (there were more than a few people who told me i had no chance at Big 4). Just keep your head up and hang in there. Like the exam, don't give up on what you want in your future!!
