Something entry level for a guy with no experience.

    How is Sacramento?

If you are looking for a job in SF, some mid-tier firms are really desperately looking for people for entry-level positions to start in January and I think you would have a good chance since you passed some exams already, I applied on saturday and just got a call today and they asked me to go for the interview tomorrow morning (and I haven't passed any sections yet) but I already have an offer elsewhere so I had to politely decline. it really looked like they needed someone, I won't name which one but here are a few I think you should apply to ASAP, novograd and co., RSM, etc I would go on their website and apply

How much do these firms pay at entry-level? is that even worth the crazy CoL?

I would say Sacramento is decent for job opportunities, but it's WAAY easier in big cities (with crazy COLA like LA and SF: pretty much 90% of your check goes to rent usually unless you hit up a sweet deeal/roomie sitch or IDK….commute? )

You should check out state government jobs. Sacramento is the capitol. https://jobs.ca.gov/

Sac-town is killing for people. I see them posting jobs all the time. Also, I don't know about OC. Still pretty competitive for at least public accounting.

The problem is we have lots of job postings here in Columbus but I can't seem to find a job. I have like 3 weeks experience.

It took me a year to find a job in Orange County with a 3.8 and one exam passed.

    It's impossible here.

Big 4 in OC is competitive for sure, gotta get recruited or know someone. I started at a mid-tier firm 3 years ago with no credentials then got another job in public a year later at a larger firm when I still hadn't even taken any CPA exams yet at that time yet so……there's definitely plenty of jobs in OC.

    coL: Cost of living

    To OP: https://www.bestplaces.net/cost-of-living/

If you want to compare cities and how much it costs in comparison. CA cost of living is pretty high to begin with but there are certain areas where it is extremely high.

@CPA2Bee: I don't think OC has much opportunities. I passed all 4 sections of CPA exam, had 2 yrs experience, and had Master of Accountancy with 3.8 GPA, but I couldn't find the job here for 6 months now.

@Smartcpa if those are really your credentials then there are plenty of jobs in OC for you. Were you at least getting interviews? Tried working with a recruiter? I find it funny that people are saying there are no opportunities in OC, myself and my peers who work in accounting would tell you quite the opposite. Look at any given job posting site and search accounting in OC, it is loaded with public and private jobs pretty much year round. Get in touch with a recruiter, they can at the very least get your resume floating around.

There are many reasons why people can or cannot find jobs, and I don't know any of you so I couldn't tell you why you're not getting offers with all your said experience. But what I do know for sure is that there is no shortage of job opportunities here.
