Curious if you had an arrest on your record say for protesting the Dakota Pipeline, do you think it will affect your chances at obtaining or keeping a job in our profession?

Here's how I see it. Any hiring manager would tell you it's not hard to find someone qualify to perform the job. IN fact, they usually receive hundreds of resumes from candidates with similar experience and expertise. Surprisingly though it is hard to find someone that has social intelligence and an ability to get along with people. A hiring manager may look at the protest arrest as a sign of disregard for “authority”. They don't want to deal with an employee they may possibly have a hard time managing. Now whether that is right or wrong is a different story.

I heard rumors that if you got arrested for protesting that Nickleback stop making any more music, you can get an automatic passing for a CPA exam section of your choosing.

    LOL @ Skynet…
I don't think an arrest automatically means elimination or termination, but it would be a negative. As others have mentioned, you don't get arrested for merely protesting – you get arrested for breaking a law (destroying property, causing harm to someone else, etc.). If I were in HR, I would not want law breakers representing my company.
