Hi,

I have cleared all my exams and am trying hard to get placed with a CPA firm as an audit associate. I need the required hours of experience to apply for my license and a job too. How do I find work? I have registered myself with the job sites and have distributed my resume with the local firms in my area but no one has approached me. I am not looking for any high profile firm or high profile work, just a casual audit associate work. a basic entry-level job is what I need
Also, I wanted to know how ahead of time does the CPA firm hire their staff?

Please help, I am relatively new to the job search arena.

Network network network. Get on LinkedIn and hit up some recruiters. Offer to intern with some in the area too. Head to any CPA society events and start handing out resumes.

You should also keep in mind many firms have already hired staff for the 2019 busy season which may be a reason you are not receiving many bites. Interim work and planning may already be underway. Keep checking job sites, LinkedIn, etc.

First of all, I would recommend you talk to people (CPAs, accountants, auditors) you may know, or ask your friends to introduce.
Start with the casual conversation, talk about that person's career path and background.
What he likes most and least about the job.
Then ask him if he knows anyone you can talk to that can help you learn more about this career path.
Usually they will be happy to introduce you to know them.

Or you can go to your states CPA society website and see if there's any career conference ( brown bags , career showcase, etc)
Go to those conferences and start networking.

The other way id to find the local CPA firm, and send your resume directly to the partner. The partner's email is usually on the website.
