    Hi guys,

Just a quick question: I got my degree overseas and when I moved to the States I had evaluated my diploma and also took some accounting classes to be able to take the CPA test. I have passed two parts so far and I have been working in private accounting for almost 10 years now. I have been applying to dozens of public accounting firms for a year now and all my applications got politely rejected. I am so jealous to those of you who are in public accounting just because you are getting those 2 years of experience… How can I get into public accounting??? Any advice???

    FAR - 89
    AUD - 84
    BEC - 84
    REG - 49, 86
    ETHICS - 96........ DONE!!!

Have you applied at small CPA firms? It is much easier to find a job at a smaller firm if you're not coming straight from college. You can always move to larger firm once you have a year of public accounting experience. Keep in mind, without prior public accounting experience you will probably be starting out at as an associate in public accounting, because private accounting experience does not transfer over to public accounting as easily. There are a couple people at the CPA firm where I work who came from experienced positions in private accounting and they had to take a pay cut and start out as entry level associates in public accounting so it can be done. Good luck with your search.
