I recently graduated with a double degree in Accounting and Finance and struggling to find entry level accounting job because they all want 1-3 years experience which I don’t have. I only have 3 months of experience preparing individual tax returns. Any recommendations on where to look?

I’m in a similar boat but just passed the exam. Any help would be appreciated.

I think you should start at a small firm in your area to gain experience, try Indeed or Ziprecruiter. Make sure ur resume looks good, and just keep applying. Good Luck

@KSingh85: I' thought becoming a CPA should open some doors for entry level positions. Now i'm worried. What's the point of passing the exam if we are not going to be able to find a job in the field?

I work in private accounting make pretty decent money. No CPA graduated in 2016 2 years experience. I am trying to make the move to public so that I can get my CPA license… but now that I see this I worry it might be for nothing… I apply to two positions thus far in public accounting… neither paid out…
So I am wondering… if you missed out on Big 4 experience fresh out of school does that mean you are done?

@WantJobCPA I am in the same boat as you. I worked full time while in school so I never had the chance to go to any meet the firm events or participate in any social functions. I just passed all 4 parts of the CPA and I would like to make the transition from private accounting to public. I have 8 years of accounting experience and also make decent money and I understand that I may need to take a pay cut. As most people in this forum have suggested I started applying to small firms in my area and hopefully something comes of that. I applied to KPMG but I doubt I will hear back from them.
I obtained my CPA hrs in the private field. When I looked for a job I made sure my boss was a CPA. Overall, I think the CPA was worth it.

    Best of luck!
