I have quick question for people who already went trough interviewing process? How technical is interview? Do they test your accounting skills, communication skills and software knowledge skills? How they do that? I have very little job experience but I can learn by myself how to use Quickbooks, for example. I want to understand what prospective employers are looking for so I can ”sell” my self the best I can.

    Zoefil,

Accounting interviews are usually behavioral interviews and gives you the chance to get to know the firm and the firm gets to learn about you. They are looking for people who know how to communicate and can hold a conversation. Make yourself stand out other than the education and other qualifications, they can read that on the resume.

To add to @rbcpa… If you're talking about a CPA firm, probably depending on the size they will also give you a written test to test your accounting skills. At least I know of quite a few firms that do that. But if they know you do not have a lot of experience, they're not going to expect you to ace it.
