I applied for the recent graduate position in Redondo Beach, CA. March 7th and I haven’t heard anything. I thought that they were supposed to send you a score based on your qualifications…all i’ve received is a confirmation email for the application

Any federal position runs on their own timeline. From the time I put in my application October to when I finally started took over six months. And that was with them “working” at trying to get me in quickly.

    REG - Nov 4, 2013: 88
    FAR - Feb 27, 2014: 86
    AUD - April 5, 2014: 91
    BEC - May 6, 2014: 83

    Florida CPA 24 July 2014
(Done in seven months - thank you Jesus!!)

It really depends on the office that you applied to. I got a call for an interview a month after the announcement closed. I've worked for DCAA for around 4 years now. I started right out of college, imo it is a good place to start. You will be making 75k in 3 years working 40 hours a week. They will pay for accounting certifications and review courses. The downside is most higher paying federal positions are in DC so your pay is pretty much frozen unless you want to be a supervisor. The big 4 recruits out of DCAA for its government consulting positions so you should also consider that. The agency has gone through a lot of changes recently, but it is not a bad place to work. Soon after you start you will have to go to Atlanta for a few weeks of training, but getting per diem is pretty nice. If you are selected by field detachment you will be required to obtain a top secret clearance which really opens a lot of doors. My position does not require a security clearance though. Btw federalsoup.com is a nice resource into federal hiring practices. Best of luck.

@vmedin2 – I think I got an email “status update” about a month or two after I applied, then they called for an interview a couple days later. I don't ever remember getting a score (although I did for other federal jobs). If you have a contact email address I think I would email them and ask them the status of your application.

thanks everyone, I've emailed the contact person however i've not gotten a response. They seem to be the contact person for an enormous amount of jobs on usa.gov so maybe they don't have time to go through every email?

Hey bucknerbrown if you don't mind me asking, how much did you make your first year there? Because when they recruited at my school they said first year auditors make around $40K. $40K to $75K is a huge jump in three years.

Great, thanks bucknerbrown! That just makes me realize I need to improve my career situation. I haven't gotten a raise at my current company after working here for 1.5 years ….

I worked for DCAA for about two years. You can expect a min of six months to hear back after applying on USAJobs. Unfortunately there isn't a way around it anymore. I was able to circumvent the wait by entering through their internship program and working enough hours to qualify as full-time, but I don't think that program exists anymore.

    BEC - 90 PASSED
    FAR - 84 PASSED
    AUD - 93 PASSED
    REG - 84 PASSED

    I DID IT!!!!
