Help!!!A call with HR again after I screwed one. What should I say?

I just finished a phone interview with a HR from a great company concerning a staff accountant position. Questions are quite straightforward. She asked me about multitasking, decision-making, bring new ideas to the team and Excel experiences. I answered those questions, but I had a headache that time and someone around me keeps making noise which totally screwed up my moods. Although I answered those questions and try to focus at my best, I do not think I do a great job. I think I did not state my answers clearly and in an organized way. I had the pain and was full of fear, worry. I did not ask too much questions due to my terrible situation.

After the interview, I sent an email to explain my situation, about my headache. I apologized sincerely about not dong my best. But I like this position a lot. I hope I can speak with her again. She relied and agreed to talk with me again tomorrow.

I want to ask for some advises about what I should say tomorrow. I do have a couple more questions about the position. But what else?

    Thank you all!

Personally, I wouldn't even talk about today's interview any more than you already have with her, otherwise you are just prolonging a “bad” interview. Research the company tonight and ask some smart questions tomorrow that demonstrate you are confident and knowledgeable about both the company and accounting.
Do NOT try and justify a scattered mind by saying you had a headache and there was a noise. You know they're going to expect you to come in to work even if you have a headache or there is construction in or around the office!
Come on, Xuai431, you're going to be a CPA someday and this is a staff accountant position. Don't be intimidated!

Hi @Kettlepot. Thank you for you advice! Your suggestion sounds good. So I just start a new conversation tomorrow? I got some questions for her, but what else I can say to get the call move on smoothly? All about the position?

Since you feel that it went bad, you must have pin pointed a few things that you said (or didn't say) that were not agreeable. I would make sure that since you sort of know the questions she will ask, you need to rehearse answers. I have no idea what went down in the original interview that made it so bad that you had to email her and tell her you had a headache! lol.

Above all sound interested and excited. Maybe point out a few strengths that you have that will help you in the staff role, particularly if you have any working experience (in any field), maybe some things you adapted that helped you in your role and that you bring with you to the new company.

GL … hope this is not too late.

@MaLoTu. Thank you for your advice. Actually, after one-day calm down, I think the original one is okay. But due to the headache, I cant even remember what I have said. As a result, I thought it was a terrible one and was really panic. But I do know that I did not show my best in the first one. I did not ask a lot of questions. Trying to make it up.
