Ok , i need advice. I have an interview with a non-profit org for an Accountant position. They specifically need CPA candidate (i have passed 3 sections and taking the last one in few weeks). How do i prepare for the interview, what are the likely interview questions? I am new to the US market and haven’t been working for almost 2 years…………..They want me to tell them my salary expectation, but i don’t have one 🙂 i don’t even mind starting for free. I just need to join the work force at this moment, so what should i say? Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks in advance….

Have you tried looking up salary statistics at glassdoor.com? They have a lot of information that'll guide you in the right direction. It has always helped me.

REG(10/23/12)- Passed. Life happended and lost credit - 18 month expiration)(Retake soon)
    FAR - Passed. Used Becker.
AUD - Passed. Used CPAExcel (now Wiley)
    BEC- Plan to take October-ish.

    Just give me a 75!

I have several years experience with several non-profits. First, if they specifically requested for a CPA, there must be a good reason behind that. So acknowledge the requirement and let them know that you are on your way to becoming one.

About the rate, you might want to consider volunteering for a month or two … let them know that you are dead serious and really want this opportunity. Volunteering will allow you to serve the organization without any investment on their end (except orientation time). If you have experience with grant reporting and preparing schedules for A133 audits, these would boost your chances.

@tax diva, thanks for the info, i will check it out. But i am still scared to mention amount….

@Cheska_0222 I have been volunteering in another org for about 3 months now and it is in my resume already, i guess that is one of the reason they contacted me. I desperately need the job so i don't want to miss the chance because of $ issue. As i have no work experience in the US and was unemployed for 2 years, as u said it is better to just volunteer and see how it goes. Thanks,
