I passed all 4 section of cpa exam. I have been looking for the job within 4 months now and still not getting any job interview. I am living in orange county, CA. I have called/ emailed to partners/ hiring managers in my area but no good news coming up. I am really disappointed and thinking whether CPA designation is a good choice for me. I am really stressful with my current situation. I am thinking should i change my career to another industry (medical likely) so that I can find the job easily. Is there anyone having the same problem with me? how did you do to overcome it?

What do you guys think of South Florida? Do you think is a good place to work? I heard that only 20% of the Accountants there are also CPAs.

I was in Miami for a couple months and it seemed like the pay there is pretty low even though rent isn't that cheap and car insurance is sky high. I was looking for staff accountant type jobs though, not jobs that require a CPA. Got the feeling that there isn't much of a middle-class there. Very few hipster types. Seemed like everyone was either well-to-do or poor.

Are you guys having a hard time finding a job because you are only looking to work in Accounting firms? Would you consider private Accounting?

I know someone started with temporary contract position for a busy season project in Big 4 and then transferred to permanent role once the busy season was over. You never know. I don't think agency or staffing company is that bad. Go ahead and try and open to any opportunities.

I'm not sure you're still here to check the messages. But have you considered applying for the Tax/Auditor positions in CA Gov't? I got 2 interview offers for an Auditor in the Healthcare sector and Tax Auditor for the State Board of Equalization, something along of those lines. All I did was pass the personality test that they had, well it was considered an exam, but it was more of a personality test. I ended up never going because I found other positions. I'm not sure where you are, but these positions are piling up in Sacramento.

I am living in OC, there are not too much gov's positions in my area. I was contacted by a staffing agency and got the tempt to hire position in F1000 company (public corporation, billion $$). I got this job without any interview. They were indeed to fulfill the position right away, so they did not need to interview me. The pay is okay, but I have the opportunity to work in corporate accounting (such as consolidation and international accounting).

I'm having trouble as well. I live in Miami and just recently passed the CPA. I work in county government and since I don't work in Finance department, I can't get a sign off. I've been with the government for 11 years and now I'm having trouble trying to find outside jobs.

Zaky, south florida is good if you can deal with rude people and hellish traffic. As for job opportunities, I can't say because I've been with govt for so long.
