I’m a senior audit associate with a CPA license and a MAcc, and I currently work for a national firm (non-Big 4). Most of my experience has been with hedge fund auditing, so I have very little experience with SOX compliance, internal controls, or SEC reporting.
Although I plan on leaving public sometime next summer, I really have no clue what types of jobs I should be looking for. Without internal controls/SOX experience, internal audit seems off-limits for me. Without experience on SEC clients, financial reporting seems off-limits at decent-sized public companies. I have an interest in FP&A, but most senior FP&A positions seems to require a minimum of five years of experience and the progression is pretty slow.
Any suggestions on what I should be looking for?
