I am currently in the process of recruiting for a full-time position. Obviously I will be applying to the Big 4, but the independent tax firm WTAS LLC caught my attention because they deal with clients in the private wealth sector, which I have always been interested in.
On that point, I think it would be a good place to start my career, but I have read reviews on Vault, Glassdoor, etc. that haven’t had very good things to say about the company. For example, I’m concerned that I won’t “fit in” with the culture of the company due to age difference (a review claimed that the people who work there are primarily in their 30’s and 40’s, while I am in my early 20’s).
For those who have worked for/currently work for WTAS, I have a few questions:
1.) Is it true that there aren’t many “young” people working for the company? (ie: people in their 20’s) I would honestly prefer to be working with some people who are my age.
2.) How do the exit options for WTAS compare to the Big 4? Obviously, the Big 4 is much more well-known, but I’ve also read that working for WTAS may allow a more hands-on experience (in tax, at least), so the actual work may seem more valuable. I also hope that the apparent connection between Arthur Anderson and WTAS won’t “hurt” me, persay.
3.) How is the work/life balance? I know that accountants generally don’t have lives, regardless, but is it more consistently busy, due to it servicing private sector clients as opposed to public clients?
Thanks!
