Thinking about hitting up a few cpa firms near where I work; dropping off my resume, asking about open positions, etc. Has anyone sucessfully done this and ended up with an offer? Please share your stories!

HAHA Oh my God…you write like a four-year old child. I can't believe any nationally recognized university would give you a degree. You must not be from the United States, but to use the fact that you are from another country to excuse your piss-poor grammar and spelling would be a slap in the face to all foreigners in this country. Trust me, if you need to “pitty” (spelled pity, by the way) anyone, it is yourself. In my opinion, you're not qualified to work at a McDonald's, let alone a CPA firm. I only provided an explanation to patronize you. I figured that perhaps if you couldn't comprehend my post and what points it was agreeing with, that maybe you had some sort of mental deficiency that required me to spell it out for you.

lol @ baseball. You are going to take some heat for that post, but I found it very funny. If I recall correctly, Knight is from New York. I'm not sure if he is a foreigner in New York though.

I don't understand how some ESL test takers (knight – I am not saying you are one – relax) are able to pass some of these tests. I really wish the writing component was a much larger portion of your score and that the AICPA actually took it seriously by deducting points for poor grammar, punctuation, sentence construction, etc.

@minimorty lmao well, I really don't have a problem with anyone except knight, currently. I'm allowed to have an opinion, and I voiced my opinion in congruence with the people who thought it was a bad idea. It's fine that he disagrees with me, but I don't like being told what I can and can't comment on if I don't follow the forum police's directions. Additionally, I really dislike when someone tries to insult me, but instead they send me an incoherent jumble of misspelled words and grammatical faux pas.

I agree…I think that the writing portion should absolutely account for a higher percentage of your grade. The number one complaint that public accounting firms have in current times is that entry level employees have awful writing skills. The CPA exam should reflect the necessity of proper writing.

@baseballcpa… I am laughing even more now….Thanks!!! Seriously thanks for a good laugh….. I am so serious, I have been working hard all day at work and your feeble attempt at an insult is quite hilarious. Do you believe this is my first time on a website forum???? ppl like are always quick to comment about grammar at an attempt to insult someone…. In my haste to reply this morning I accidentally wrote T in “pity” twice.

You’re an absolute disgrace for a CPA or public accountant. I would be shame to know you and be a coworker of yours….

If someone on the Internet writes 2 sentences and gets you worked up, the way you are, what does that say about you as a person???

It says that you are an ill-tempered, simple minded, angry, sad, egotistical low life who is more book smart than anything else….

Haha omg…I'm not worked up, dude, I just think you're a guy who needs to shut his trap. I'm actually a pretty nice guy, but yeah, I guess ignorance just pisses me off. I mean, I can't believe you can sit there and call me a disgrace with a straight face. You're the Charles Manson of the English language and you're telling me that you'd be ashamed to work with me? If I worked at the same firm as you, I'd be questioning the sanity of the HR department…heck, if I graduated from the same college as you, I'd be ashamed.

Also, you call me “ill-tempered and angry”, but I never once used profane or overly offensive language; you call me “simple minded” but simultaneously dub me “book smart”; and you call me an “egotistical low-life” but I never once boasted about my accomplishments or said I was better than anyone else. You're just upset because you've been bested in an argument and are grasping at straws in an attempt to salvage any dignity you may have left.

Well, in any case, despite what you may think about me, we're all working towards the same goal here — passing the CPA exam and subsequently utilizing those skills in the field. I'm over this argument, so think what you will, knight. In all honesty though, and I promise I'm not saying this to extend this forum battle, I really suggest taking a writing workshop to improve your spelling and grammar. Peace!

oh nooooo is that really it???? I am truly disappointed with you rebuttal young man…. you are still talking about writing skills and grammar. Can you find a grammatical error in my last two posts????

Yes, you are simple minded and book smart at the same time…. smh book smart isn’t everything if you get my drift, so apart from that, you don’t have much else to offer. Hence being simple minded…..

You are not technically incline and you are not a people person… Sorry baseballcpa i am not just picking adjectives out of a basket. That is how you represented yourself (making fun of ppl in McDonalds and Immigrants)

Ok, but I'm only doing this because you asked:

    Rknight post #1:

“b(B)aseballcpa you posted twice without any reason to (for) your answer….. i (I) can never understand posters that do that….. dont (Don't) comment when you wont (won't) provide a reason for your answer(.)

    Rknight post #2:

“lmao!!!! you(You) begin to say (replace “begin to say” with “said”) (insert: that) you dont(don't) have to explain anything to anyone and then you went ahead and gave the reason.. Why didnt (didn't) you just stood (stand) your grounds (ground) and (^continue to deprive us of an explanation) (question mark) still provided no explanation, ubt instead (Instead) you went ahead and contradicted your self (yourself) and did exactly what i (I) implored you to do [Two sentences because originally you began by asking a question and ended in a declarative statement]. Anyways (comma) I pitty (pity) and laugh at your silly attitude.

Now (comma) for(regarding) your reason as to why it isnt (isn't) beneficial to drop off your resume at an office(comma) its(it's) bull….I dont (don't) care what the majority of partners or seniors (senior) manager (managers) would do. If the applicant received one call back it wouldnt (wouldn't) have been a waste of time….smh and more than likely the (delete “the”) it would hae (have) been the bigger firms that already has (have) an established recruting (recruiting) system that would throw his resume in the trash.

Nievjohn(comma) you did a good thing. Your (You) have a new job and you will be getting your foot in the door. After 2 years of exp. you (your) chances of moving to a diff. firm (firm redundant — delete first iteration of it) or bigger firm will be greatly increased.

most (Most) things in life is (are) subjective…. the one firm that offered nievjohn a job obviously viewed his efforts differently from the other firms.”

You are not technically incline (wrong tense) and you are not a people person… Sorry (comma) baseballcpa (comma) i am not just picking adjectives out of a basket. That is how you represented yourself (making fun of ppl in McDonalds [McDonald's] and Immigrants [immigrants])”

It still reads like crap because all I fixed was the blatant disregard for punctuation. The sentence structure is still weak and it's choppy. Also, I never made fun of people who worked at McDonald's OR immigrants, I said that YOU are not fit to work at McDonald's and that to lump YOU in with the other, intelligent immigrants in this country would be an insult to them.

You might have passed all the exams but you are as dumb as they get.. simple minded to the third degree……

@Minimorty: haha yeah, but it was totally worth it. I have to admire the little guy's persistence though…no matter how many times he gets knocked to the canvas, he keeps coming back for more. I'd say it's pretty much game, set, match, but whatever lol.

@Rknight: lmao ok, you're right, out of the two of us, I'm the idiot. Don't worry about making me “waste” my time — it was a pleasure putting your writing on display again. Good job “winning”!
