Hello Everyone – I’ve been working in the Accounting/Finance field for 7 years and have yet to meet someone who loves what they do, or at least enjoys it. Most either dislike it or are content, but it’s definitely not something they boast about or are proud of.

Are you or someone you may know a unicorn and loves/enjoys working in the Accounting/Finance field?

I work at a VERY small distributor for a large manufacturer in the uk we have 8 people here in the US. 4 sales guys, 1 sales admin, 1 service/repair guy and 1 shipper. I do absolutely everything finance/admin/hr and then some. I guess part of what I like about it is I'm not in a rat race, not “competing” with anybody, I'm pretty much an island here. The bad thing is everyone I work with is beyond clueless and I swear can't even put paper in the copier and everyone except my boss thinks of me as a glorified secretary because they have NO clue at all what I do here…………

I wonder if those of you who like your jobs work in smaller locations. Most of my experience has come from working in more competitive areas so you can never really get “too comfortable” unless you have specific connections or are brining in a lot of business, etc.

I love my job, simply because I love the firm I currently working at. I also love my part time bookkeeping because it gives me flexibility and ability to work from home. I think everything is relevant to your environment. If I was at big4 I would probably hate it. No offense to Big4 master CPAs. It is just not my type of environment.
