I have change my major about 5 times in my college career. I finally settled into accounting and will be able to graduate after 5years of college….without any internship ever. Because i’ll be busy taking course overloads every chance i get in order to graduate on time.

Now is it possible for me to simply get an internship the summer after graduation? while studying for my CPA?

I just feel very in-competitive because i will be graduating without ever having an internship.

Any advice?

i'm in the same boat, except i gradated undergrad in biology and did a masters in accounting and finance with honors/distinction and with no internship or anything… and consequently nobody wants to hire me lol… possibly because i'm almost 31 and have too much experience but who knows.

I believe the summer after graduation you still qualify as a student and can participate in internship programs.

I never did any internships and had no accounting experience when i graduated, and I got a job right away in public accounting.

Typically, if you are hired while you are still in school, then you can be eligible for most internship programs even if you graduate before the internship is to take place (unless the internship states “looking for students graduating no earlier than Dec. 2012”). After you actually graduate you will afterwards be looking to jump straight into full-time, unless you indicate on your resume that you are starting another education program next year (e.g. “beginning Masters in whatever Fall 2012”).

Try applying for State Government Accounting Jobs. For instance, in South Carolina the auditor's office hires people right out of college as long as they have a GPA of 3.5 or 3.7 or higher.
