I know it’s been score release frenzy around here. But someone please give reassurance or closure (or just assuage my impatience). So I applied for this Auditor I position at the county level. My only past experience is the auditing internship that I was in. I got 85% for the exam score when I took their online test. In addition to auditing, I have A LOT of work experience (not all accounting but some).

He emailed me today asking for my overall and accounting GPA (3.14/3.4). Yes, I know it sucks, but I only switched to accounting the beginning of my fourth year and by then, my GPA tanked due to other factors.

Do you think that my chances of an interview are still competitive? Or do they normally require higher GPAs for positions like this? Those who are currently in this position, please share your stories and thoughts.

I work as a state auditor and had a GPA of 2.4 with no accounting or audit experience and was in banking for 8 years. I'd say your chances are good.

@mjganier How do you like being a state auditor? I have looked into a position with the Auditor General for my state. It would be working with educational entities and local government. I currently work in private industry, and it is not what I expected at all. Any advice as far as government goes? Is it a M-F no weekends or overtime type of thing? Sorry for all the questions!

my overall is 3.95, in accounting was 4.0, and am cpa licensed avging over a 90 amongst the 4 sections, and been rejected from gov't auditor positions. I don't think gpa is necessarily high up there on their criteria.
