Got second interview after accepting a job offer with another employer

    Hi everyone,

There is a problem that bugged me for a couple days. The situation is I recently interviewed with a couple places and finally I got a job offer for a temp to hire position. This happened when I was on vacation and I had to response quickly without having time to think whether I should accept the offer (a couple hours after the staff agency noticed me that I got the offer and had to reply quickly). The problem is I got a second interview with my dream job that I applied after accepting the other offer. Now I feel guilty. I don’t know whether I should reject the offer that I already accepted before going to any further interview with the other place and how to reject the offer. Need help and advice in order not to burn the bridge with both places.

Thanks so much and really appreciate for any advice.

The job you accepted is Temp to Hire so there is no gaurantee that they will hire you. I say go on the 2nd interview and if you get that job then quit the Temp to Hire position. However do not reject the Temp to Hire offer until you have a start date at your dream job.

My co-worker went to work for another employer and had accepted 2 job offers at the time. The good thing was that she did not do any of the paperwork so technicially she hadn't accepted anything, just verbal. If you sign a contract them you may be held financially responsible for certain things. Tell the first employer that you had a job offer come through that you applied for before accepting their job offer. Do not be apologetic.just say you regrettably withdraw your application.

However you did just mention that it's a 2nd interview, that's a tough decision. You need to go with your gut and accept that if you turn down one offer and don't get your dream job that you will be okay with your decision.

    Good luck!

Go on the interview, i agree with Mel4CPA, its temp to hire there is no guarantee i say, go on the interview and hopefully you get it. If you do get it you can quit the other job. Normally I don't think it is good business to go back on a job you accepted but i think the job being temp to hire leaves you a some room if you get another other offer. You could say you got offered a full-time permanent position and have decided to take it.

Good luck I hope you get your dream job!

This is my 2nd attempt at the exam, I had two parts passed (failed many) and I stupidly quit, big mistake. Now I'm back and with a vengeance!

Thanks everyone for the reply. Just got the interview date and start date for my temp job; they are both on next Wednesday which made my decision tougher. Now I really don't know what to do. I need to get my fingerprint done this Monday at my temp place and turn in the paperwork as well. So yeah I need help 🙁

This puts you in an awkward position for sure, Is the interview time set? Can you schedule it for early like 8 am? Then tell your temp job you have doctors appointment and ask to start at 10am on Wednesday or start on Thursday? Have you commuted to both dates? With times? If so war are they if not maybe try To adjust the schedule.

The interview date and time were set and it will be at 11 am on Wed. And I do not think they would like to reschedule for me again because I already rescheduled it once when I was out of town. Dont know if the temp place would let me change the start date. I dont want to sign any paperwork or get anything done before I get my mind straight.
