Hey all,

I have been working for some years already, have an established career. Passed the exam, but never got the license due to the experience requirement.

I’ve found a place that’s willing to take me as an auditor trainee and certify. My firm offered extra $$ for me to stay, like 25% upward. It will definitely be a good rate where I can live off even without getting a license.

In general, to what extent, are you willing to give up getting a license and be okay with just a general senior accountant / manager?

I am always asking myself this question. Ultimately, one day we will all become a manager and focus more on administration other than accounting.

is your current job not related at all to accounting? I'm not sure what jurisdiction you are in. But, from my understanding a lot of states allow work experience that's industry or publics, advisory, etc. to count towards your experience requirement.

150k would be my answer.
Not sure how many years of experience you have, but I would debate very hard on giving up the dream of being licensed, especially since you already passed all the exams.
If you are unable to use some other source of experience verification, then you can look into park time work on the side to qualify you.
NY for example, accepts 20 hour part time/week, 2 weeks = 1 week full time.
Yes, it would suck to have to work 20 extra hours a week part time some where plus your main job, but whatever it takes to get it over and one with and get those letters.

Why not get licensed in another state that doesn't have public accounting experience requirements? Unless you're doing public accounting, it really doesn't matter which state you get your license.

Hey Guys. Thanks for all the suggestion.
No, my current place doesn't provide qualified experience, and I had passed my test some years back then, it's too late for me to transfer to another state for the license and I will have to retake the test.
Because of that, so when the great opportunity do come by, I was very tempted into it.
