    Hi all,

    So I’ve just started a role in industry and have been asked to do a memo on a fixed asset/lease treatment but was told to just do some googling as there isn’t a subscription to any GAAP in the office… I’m not too happy about this as that’s not really effective researching etc. as i’m getting some crazy things…

    So does anyone have a PDF of GAAP that they could send me or advise where I could find it without paying $1,000 ?

    I know this might be a throwaway task for me and they already know how to deal with the incident but since its my first memo i’d really like to do it properly. Any assistance would be gladly received!

    Just to clarify- i'd like the PDF if possible, to do the research, not just the list of the codes, Apologies if codification is the wrong term!

    not sure how much information you will get via the free basic view.

    I would also visit AICPA, NASBA, your CPA chapter, Public accounting firms that release opinions/overviews of standard updates/standards in general.

    The last bet would be maybe a library to see if they have the 2019 master guide of GAAP, its like 1800 pages. Costs like 200-300+ dollars to buy online.

    @WEEE2CPAYE
    Thanks for your response! The basic view is not great, but I had already signed up for that and found it to be ineffective for what I need. I hadn't thought of a library, I'll check that and see if anything turns up.
    I think the Big4 articles are my best bet, it just seems crazy that consulting the authoritative literature is basically impossible without paying through the nose- aw well!

    It is cheaper to buy a book like this:

    https://www.cchcpelink.com/book/gaap-guide-2019-prod-10030177-0012/13786/

    yea, it is 400+ dollars but its better than than the 1000+? dollars to obtain access to the online database.

    I'd echo CCH books, they are solid gold. But being asked to do a memo without any sub to authoritative content is a little sketch on the part of your employer. “Just google some stuff” LOL
