A job interview for an outside company asked me which area I would prefer. So far I have 3 years of Financial Reporting experience in my current company. Which would be the best fit for the long term, most interesting, most intellectually stimulating and of course monetary consideration?

Any where that I can look up for more information on the two? I have heard people state that internal audit is a dead end career. Is that true? I need to provide them an answer by tomorrow so trying to get all my ducks in a row.

I can't say which would be a better fit for you, but you could take a look at Robert Half salary guide for some info on the average salaries for both jobs. I personally worked in I/A and at least at the company where I worked, there was a lot of opportunity after rolling out of I/A. You can gain a lot of knowledge about the company, make a lot of contacts, and have a good idea of what you would like to do after being in I/A (again at least in my experience). Good luck with your decision!
