Follow-up after applying to a job?

    I recently passed my last CPA exam and have been applying to different job openings online. Is it typical to follow-up after applying for a job (to check the status of my application/resume)? And if so, how soon is it appropriate to follow-up?

    Hmm, I don't generally follow up unless I've had an interview. I'd say if it is a job that you REALLY want it couldn't hurt. Also, you could use the excuse of wanting to update your resume as you've now passed all 4 parts of the CPA exam… Congratulations and good luck!!!

    FAR - 7/13 - 72, 11/13- 74, 2/14- 82!!! Best score ever (for me)!!!
    BEC - 1/14 - 75!!! Perfect score! First Pass! YAY!!!
    AUD - 8/14 - 80!!!
    REG - 5/14 - 72, 10/14 - 66, 1/15 - 78 - DONE FOREVER!!!
    I did 5 of the UNA and CPAExcel classes to earn units.

    Ah too bad I already included that on my resume, otherwise that would have been a great idea! Oh well, I probably won't contact them about receiving my resume and just hope for the best… thank you for your response!!

    I typically send them my resume and a $200 Benihana gift certificate with a note attached explaining that the gift certificate is only valid pending a job offer. If I don't get the job, the gift certificate is never activated. So far this has worked very effectively for 3 different companies where I have received job offers. 😉
