    Hello Everyone,

I applied for an IRS position. I completed the very long application and passed the exam and was considered on the highest tier. However, I never received communication as to either interview or a rejection. How does one get a job with the irs? Do they have recruiting events?

I don't know much about the IRS, but FDIC is a great place to work. Lots of training opportunities, great pay (better then big 4, especially since you wont need to work over 40hs a week), great compensation packages, so I would also try FDIC (for the position called Financial Inst. Specialist) at usajobs.gov. Not an easy hire but it is a great place to work. Voted #1 best places to work for government jobs.

I will second the FDIC thumbs up. My dad worked there for over 30 years….it's a great place to work.

I also applied for an IRS position. I applied well over a month ago, and just recently got shot down. Strangely, they told me why….apparently they pulled every candidate from their list of veterans, and didn't have enough spots left for non-vets. If you're a veteran, you stand a good chance of moving on in the process…it does take them a while to fill those spots, though.

I applied for a Gov't job, scored very well on the application process and got a call 6 months later. The Gov't is in no hurry.
