Excel Test

    I have a meeting with a staffing firm. I will be required to take an excel test. I am in the learning process with excel functions? Does any of you know what I can expect to see on the exam and how can I prepare for it? Thanks so much!!!

    I've had to take a couple Excel tests before and in my experience, they're pretty basic. Anything you'd learn in a beginner's course from Best Buy should be more than enough. I'd recommend getting one if you are not experienced with Excel.

    Thanks for your reply. I have excel for dummies workbook. Should I be studying out of Microsoft excel 2003, 2007 or 2010? Did you have to do any v lookups or pivot tables? Thanks again!!!

    I'm not sure which edition to study. I don't know that it'll make a huge difference. I did not have to do pivot tables or v lookups. That was just my experience, though. Yours could be different so don't hold me to this!

    The tests I had to take were pretty short, maybe 20 minutes each. They were simple commands. “In Cell D6, enter a formula to add the numbers in Cells D1 through D5,” for example. So you'd type “=sum(D1:D5)” in Cell D6.

    2003 or 2007 is more likely. However the basic functions are going to be fairly similar as long as you know what they are called in the menus.

    Vlookups and pivot tables are key for down the line but I wouldn't assume a entry level position would demand a candidate knowing how to use them.

    Thanks for responding. What basic functions should i know? I currently have 3 years A/P experience but dont have on the job excel experience…
